Donation items may be added to the Advanced checkout pages in any of the formats available. There is no limit on the number of donation items that may be added to a checkout page. Before a donation item may be added, a checkout page must be created.
Build New Donation
Basics
Donation Name/Title: The name that appears in the title bar for the donation item. The above example's title is "Demonstration 2"
Page Assignment: Each donation field may be assigned to many different checkout pages. Once a checkout page is defined, items such as donations may be added to it as needed. There is no limit on the number of items that may be added to a checkout page.
Settings
Display Status
Donation fields are by default set to be "active". Active donation items will be displayed on the selected checkout page. If you wish to not show a specific item on a checkout page, you may simply disable it by clicking on the inactive button.
SKU
SKU must be alphanumeric and may have hyphens. SKU is included in detailed transaction report. SKU is additional report parameter on custom detailed report.
Default Donation Amount
A preset amount that will appear automatically in the amount field. Patrons will have to actively make a change if they wish to donate a different amount.
WARNING: Preset amounts can cause confusion with donors as they often think they have added or are expected to pay the preset amount. Based on the support calls we receive for this option we strongly recommend against setting a preset.
Maximum Donation Amount
A preset maximum limit may be set for each donation item. This feature is used most often by political organizations where campaign financing limits are imposed on donations by the Federal Election Commission or the State Board of Elections. If a donation is made in excess of the limit the system will warn the donor that the limit has exceeded the allowable limit.
Display Schedule:
Donation items may be turned on and off based on a set schedule. The timing is based on midnight for the time zone selected in the My Account area. For example:
Start Date: June 30, 2008: Product appears in the checkout page on June 30, 2008 at 00.00.01 a.m. [Date is inclusive]
End Date: July 1, 2008: Product disappears from the checkout page on July 2, 2008 at 00.00.01 a.m. [Date is inclusive]
Display Type
Donation fields may be set as radio buttons (multiple choice) or single donation items. The following shows an example of each:
Values entered or selected in each of the above may be added to the cart by clicking on Add to Cart.
Tax Deductible Percentage
The percentage of the donation that is tax deductible may be entered in the open text fields. While typically the value is 100%, at times the value may be different. Enter the value as a number without the % sign.
Assign Custom Fields
Custom text boxes are defined under the Custom Questions tab and may be assigned to specific donation or product items. The custom text fields that are assigned to the donation or product will display on the checkout page if a payment is made for the donation or product item; otherwise, the fields will not be displayed.

Donation Description
The full description listed will display under the More Info area of the listing on the checkout page. Providing a description of the item will give further detail to the patron when purchasing or choosing the item in the checkout page.
Receipt Message
The message listed will display on the receipt after the listing of the donation. If the donation item is added to the basket and is paid for, the receipt will include a listing for the item with the amount paid. The message will be listed below the listing in the receipt. Please be brief as long messages will increase the length of the receipt.
Display Order
Choosing the Checkout Page from the pull down menu provides a listing of all donation items assigned to the page. To customize the display order of any of the listed donation items mouse click on the item and move it to the desired location relative to other listing.
Notifications
Add email addresses separated by a semicolon. Email addresses listed will receive a copy of the payment receipt when the donation item is paid for at checkout. The system performs a uniqueness test on all emails to ensure the same email address does not receive more than one receipt per order
Build Premiums
Basics
Premium Name
The name identifying the premium on the checkout page. Example: Tee shirt, coffee cup, CD, etc.
Donation Assignment
Select the donation item for which the premium is used. The premium entered will be added to the specific donation item in a pull down menu. In the following example, the "Cat in the Hat" hat is a premium offered for a $10 donation.
Premium Price Qualifier
Enter the minimum donation for which the patron will qualify for the premium. In the above example, the premium price qualifier is $10.
Tax Deductible Amount
Since the patron is receiving a tangible gift with value, the total donation may not qualify as a tax-deductible contribution. In the above example, the hat may have a price of $2 therefore; the total tax-deductible amount is $8.00. Enter the total tax-deductible portion of the donation if the premium item is accepted. The system will automatically calculate the value of the premium item and deduct it from all donations above $10. For example if a patron donates $100 and chooses the hat as the premium gift, the system will automatically calculate the tax-deductible portion as $98, considering the hat was valued at $2.00.
Token Value
Values assigned to premiums are discretionary and typically should be the fair market value of the offering. In the above example, the hat with a value of $2 changes the tax-deductible portion of a $10 donation to $8. However, what if the donation is $1,000 and the premium selected is the hat, valued at $2? In a case of a large donation, a premium with little value (small value) is considered a token item and may legally be assigned no value relative to the donation. The Token Value is the value at and above which 100% of donation is tax deductible. The following example further illustrates this term:
Premium Offering:
Premium Name: "Cat in the Hat" hat
Premium Price Qualifier: $10
Tax-Deductible Amount: $8
Token Value: $1000

Display Schedule
Each option may be set to display on a specific date and disappear on a certain date. If an option is to be displayed indefinitely, leave the stop date field blank. For example:
- Start Date: June 30, 2008: Product appears in the checkout page on June 30, 2008 at 00.00.01 a.m. [Date is inclusive]
- End Date: July 1, 2008: Product disappears from the checkout page on July 2, 2008 at 00.00.01 a.m. [Date is inclusive]
SKUSKU must be alphanumeric and may have hyphens. SKU included in detailed transaction report and is additional parameter in custom detailed report.
Shipping
Check the box if the product requires shipping. Once shipping is activated, the checkout page will ask for shipping information in addition to the billing information. Shipping fees will also be added based on shipping rates [Read more: Shipping].
Shipping Scale
Shipping scale is a dimensionless unit that may be used for shipping. Scale may be used as quantity, weight, price, or another unit applicable. For example:
Product 1: Shipping Scale = 1
Product 2: Shipping Scale = 3
Product 3: Shipping Scale = 10
In the Shipping definitions, the following rates are defined:
Minimum Scale = 1, Maximum Scale = 4: Rate=$5.00
Minimum Scale = 5, Maximum Scale = 15: Rate = $10
Patron's basket selection:
Patron chooses Product 1 and checks out. Shipping cost added to the total basket = $5
Patron chooses Product 1 and Product 2 and checks out: Shipping cost added to the total basket = $5 (1 + 3=4 in scale and the rate is $5 for scale of 1-4.
Patron chooses Product 3 and checks out: Shipping cost added to the total basket= $10
As long as the scales are defined uniformly and items with similar shipping scales are added to a checkout page the shipping rate will be consistently calculated. As stated earlier, the shipping scale may be based on any metric, e.g. weight, price, quantity, etc.
Inventory
Total inventory for the option may be set and adjusted. Once a product has been sold out (inventory reaches zero) the item will disappear from all checkout pages. Inventory may be adjusted at anytime by increasing or decreasing the number in the field.
